History of the OMNI Concept
The Omni concept was started by a group of leaders in eyecare in the late 1970s. A group called Vision Education Foundation, or V.E.F. was established. The philosophy lives on. Although by various names, there are flourishing Omni type practices throughout the United States.
Omni was established to deliver state-of-the-art care for patients in two ways. The first is by providing Optometrists a location that will provide consultations for those with difficult medical eye conditions. Our doctors are available to other doctors in the area to assist when questions arise regarding patients suffering from disease in their own practices. The second is that the practice has surgeons whose primary interest is doing surgery, not routine care. Surgeons who concentrate on surgery are able to stay at the cutting edge of care. Omni will only see patients with eye diseases or who require surgery.

Omni Eye Centers of Kansas City is pleased to be part of a large medical eyecare network in the metro area and beyond. We have worked hard to create a practice focused on medical and surgical eye conditions. We are blessed to have a network of primary eyecare doctors throughout the region. You will be able to have your general eyecare provided for you close to you. An Omni Eye Centers Network Provider close to your home will provide your prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, the fitting, and the dispensing of these materials. We may request that additional ophthalmic testing be performed by your Primary Eyecare Professional as well. Thus, maximizing your time. Our specialty facility does not see direct referral patients for routine eye care. We do not fit glasses or contact lenses and we do not have an optical dispensary. As secondary care providers of your eye condition, we are proud to team up with primary eyecare professionals of the Omni Eye Center Network to provide you with the most complete and comprehensive care available.
